Winfield C. John III, DMD
Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. John is a graduate of Marshall High School, Huntington, WV, and earned his undergraduate degree from University of Pittsburgh and a dental degree from the University of Kentucky Dental School. He completed a general practice residency with the US Public Health Service, Boston, MA, a one-year anesthesia residency at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, OH, and a two-year rotation with the VA Hospital in Detroit, MI, where he taught at the University of Detroit and worked on the research for dental implants. Upon completing his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh he returned to his home town area. He is in private practice serving the greater tri-state area of Huntington, WV, Ashland, KY, and Ironton, OH.
His special interests include dental implants, extractions, including wisdom teeth, tissue/bone grafting, oral pathology, exposure for orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and graft reconstruction.
Dr. John is certified in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
Dr. John is a member of numerous organizations, including the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, American Medical Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Eastern Dental Society, American Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Kentucky Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. John is licensed to practice in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
He is a consultant for the VA Hospital in Huntington, WV and has hospital privileges at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
